Intentions as Inspirations for a New Fabric Collection

This has been my favorite collection in a while. I started with the idea of creating a collection based on my intentions for 2026: strength, focus, being present, and gratitude. Those are the things I want in my life for next year. Instead of New Year’s Resolutions, I prefer to set intentions. Are a resolution person? Do they last beyond January 15th?

So I narrowed down on the following symbols for these intentions:

  1. Magnolia for quiet strength and dignity
  2. Thistle for tough beauty, protection and grit
  3. Oak for endurance, resilience, “weathering storms”
  4. Ivy for single-minded climbing, persistence toward a goal

I even painted some in watercolor, but I wasn’t feeling the vibe.

Then I looked into trends and Earthy toned paisleys will be trending for Fall Winter 26/27, according to Start by WGSN. The paisley is one of my favorite motifs, I have always been fascinated by it: the history, the style. It is magical, historical, and classic all at once.

So I got to work and the result left me so happy and excited for the year to come!

While my previous collection was all dainty flowers and pastel tones, this one had a boho vintage feel. It’s giving Daisy Jones and the Six, Florence Welch, and Coachella vibes.

I can see these prints used in fabrics like soft cottons, chiffon, or even velvet, in patterns like the Celine Blouse by Silversaga patterns or the Estelle Dress by Mila Onni Patterns. Flowy and soft fabrics are the name of the game here.

Which pattern is your favorite?

I think I know what I am going to get myself for Christmas: several yards of fabric!

My top faves are the linework paisley, the foulard, and the granny squares.

I can’t wait to see what you sew with these beauties!

Happy Creating,

Sam
