I have been painting for about 3 years now, I have tried several different brands of paper and watercolors. Here is a list of my favorites.
- Paper – I really like to paint on the large Arches Cold Press. I love the texture and the feel of the paintbrush on this paper. I go for the large blocks (9inx12in), since I think these work better for my loose style. I also paint on the Stonehenge cold press blocks, but I find that the Arches has a little more tooth.
- Paints – I started with a really simple cheap watercolor palette from Michaels. It was my gateway drug. Then I splurged and bought some Winsor and Newton professional tubes. And the difference is night and day. I wait for the tubes to go on sale.
- Watercolor Inks – These Ecoline Watercolor inks pack a punch!
- uniquu lighting – I got this on a sale and I love it for recording videos while I paint. It closes into a really compact case.
- Brushes – I have been using 2 brands: Princeton and Craftamo, in a variety of sizes. There are times when I am really into the large brushes (size 12 or 16), and others when I prefer a size 4. But I usually paint more often with a size 8.
- Sylvan clay palettes – These palettes are so pretty! I love painting with them. They are an art piece in and of themselves. https://sylvanclayworks.com/
